On Tuesday, Feb. 3, Harrisville Central School District voters approved a $9,136,280 capital project by a vote of 85 (yes) to 24 (no).
“We are incredibly grateful for the continued support from our community,” said Superintendent Rob Finster. “Maintaining updated facilities helps ensure our students have an enriching educational experience. We also recognize that the school is a central hub for the community, and we are thankful that district residents take pride in the school’s shared spaces.”
Project Highlights
Outdoor Updates
- Paving and other updates to front bus loop, including new sidewalks
- Reconstruction of elementary drop-off loop, including lighting replacement
- Updates to bus garage, including repaving the front driveway
Classroom and Safety Improvements
- Auditorium updates, including new stage curtains, lighting and sound upgrades, addition of some wider seats
- Convert middle school bathrooms to single-use spaces
- New classroom walls in middle school and elementary wings
- New sinks and drinking fountains in elementary wing
- Updates to locker room toilets and showers
- Replacement of fire alarm and public address systems
Necessary Infrastructure Upgrades
- Replacement of original water supply system piping and plumbing fixtures, and original sanitary and storm lines in middle school wing, all of which were placed in 1957
- New emergency generator
- Updates to HVAC system through air handling unit
- Replacement of hot water pumps, last updated in 1999
