Two students to be recognized in 2026 Scholastic Art Awards

Two Harrisville Central School students are being honored for their artistic talent. Violet Atkinson and Jaden Pate will both have two art pieces displayed in this year’s Scholastic Art Awards.

The Central New York region covers a very large geographic area – 14 counties and almost 400 eligible schools. Each year, around 5,000 pieces of art are entered to be judged, and about 1,500 awards are given.

Violet received a Gold Key Award for her drawing, “Breaking Through” and an Honorable Mention Award for her painting, “Jump.” Jaden received a Gold Key Award for her drawing, “Withering Away” and an Honorable Mention for her painting, “Lost.”

Both students’ Gold Key pieces will go on to compete at the national level. Violet and Jaden will be honored at the Scholastic Art Awards Presentation on Tuesday, Jan. 20. All winning pieces and portfolios will be on display throughout the Whitney Applied Technology Center at Onondaga Community College from Jan. 14 through Feb. 27.
