The girls varsity basketball team is celebrating an impressive Section X playoff run, and one Harrisville senior secured her place in school history during their final game.
Violet Atkinson bucketed her thousandth point in the team’s semifinal game against the Edwards-Knox Cougars. She said she’s thankful for her coaches, teammates, and family, adding that the support the team gets from the community is amazing.
“This is something I have been dreaming of since middle school,” Violet said. “I have always wanted to complete this goal, not just for me, but to show all the younger girls that through hard work and dedication they can do anything.”
The girls varsity team finished the season with a record of 18 wins and 4 losses. After high school, Violet plans to play basketball at Houghton University and major in Exercise Science.
