District partners with NYS DMV, offers online knowledge test for students

The NYS DMV and Harrisville Central School are pleased to offer the Online Knowledge Test Application (OKTA) here at HCS, reducing the time spent by students and their parents at the DMV office.

The test is presented in an easy-to-use computer format and is offered to students age 15 (who will be 16 within a month) and older. The free test will be administered online by Mrs. Theriault in the High School Library. The test typically takes 20-35 minutes to complete. Questions will also be available in audio format if needed. DMV learners’ permit manuals will be available in the library. Tests can be retaken as often as needed to receive a passing grade.

It’s simple:

  • Schedule a time online here or by calling the school at (315) 543-2707 ext. 27914.
  • Applicant will report to the library during your designated time with proof of identification (Original Birth Certificate).
  • Here they will take the exam which is graded immediately, and students will receive pass/fail receipt.
  • They will take their passing receipt to any DMV (once the student turns age 16) and receive a full DMV learner’s permit.

On completion of the test, further NYS paperwork will be provided to take when going to the DMV. If you have any further questions, call Mrs. Theriault during the hours of 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at (315) 543-2707 ext. 27914 or email at rtheriault@hcsk12.org
