We, the spring 2008 Participation
in Government class of Harrisville Central School, would like to take this
opportunity to present to you our community service project. We took the day of
Saturday, April 26th, to clean up and do some work on the Harrisville
skating rink. Our project entailed a six hour work day in which we accomplished
tasks such as: taking down the old rink
boards, sweeping the pavement, building
and sanding benches,
painting the eave boards, painting the pavement, and painting the hockey goals. We also picked up garbage
and raked around the pavilion.
Many youth throughout Harrisville enjoy the physical recreation that the hockey rink provides them. It is a place to relax, have fun, and unwind. Through the improvement of the rink, our Participation in Government class hopes that the experience of the youth, that utilize this area, will be richer. It is through the completion of the project that we hope to better our community, as well as experience satisfaction knowing that we have had a positive impact on the lives of Harrisville’s youth.
Thank you to all of the businesses that donated. With your help we were able to purchase all of the supplies needed to make this project such a success.
Sincerely, The Spring 2008 Participation in Government Class of Harrisville
Central School.
