| Grading & Lab Grades |
|
| Quarter Grades |
|
I use a weighted system for figuring
out grade averages for students. There are 4 categories which include
Tests, Quizzes, Homework, & Labs.
Tests: 35%
Quizzes: 25%
Homework: 20%
Lab Grades: 20%
Average = (.35*Test Average) + (.25*Quiz Average) +
(.20*Homework Average) + (.20*Lab Average)
|
| Course Grades |
|
Course Grades are based on Quarter Averages, Midterm Exam,
& Final Exam.
Quarter: 20% (times 4)
Midterm: 10%
Final Exam: 10%
Course Average = (.2*Quarter 1) +(.2*Quarter 2) + (.1*Midterm) +
(.2*Quarter 3) + (.2*Quarter 4) + (.1*Final Exam)
Regents Exam must be passing to get regents credit for course.

| Homework Policy |
|
Since homework is important for developing
skills needed to master a course all homework assigned is due on the
given due date which is usually the next day unless otherwise noted. I do
not accept late homework unless a legal absence was involved. |
| Laboratory Report Policy |
|
For a student to sit for a regents, New
York State requires all lab reports assigned by the teacher, to be
successfully completed by the student. Lab reports are due the next lab
period the student meets. Late lab reports during a quarter will be
heavily penalized. Late lab reports handed in after a quarter ends will
be given a O grade that will not be changed and the student will
still have to hand in a lab report.
All lab reports must be turned in or a student will
not be allowed to sit for the New York State Science Regents. This is
the law!
