I teach Remedial Reading to grades K-5 and Remedial Math to grades 1 and 3. I see most of my students in small groups taken from the regular classroom. I do have some push-in (in the classroom) locations where I work with the classroom teacher on reading skills.
In the subject of Reading, I work on decoding skills, learning the meaning of vocabulary words, recognizing new vocabulary by sight, and comprehension skills. I also try to add educational games to make learning to read fun.
In Math we work in small groups outside the classroom too. In 1st grade I go into the classroom. I work on Math concepts the students do not understand and have them practice these skills repeatedly. Again, I use games to make learning Math skills fun.
