HOMEWORK POLICY

Late homework will not be accepted for a grade! Homework is designed to enhance yo= ur classroom learning. Homework = will be collected at the beginning of class.&nb= sp; I will only accept work in pencil or black or dark blue ink.

LATE WORK POLICY

Work handed in late will be penalized with a grade of zero points.<= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'> Work will be considered late if not turned in at the beginning of the period in which it is due. Work handed in late due an excused absence will not be penalized until after an equal number of days has passe= d, and then will be penalized according to the above policy. For example if you have an excused= absence on Monday and Tuesday, then you will have two days additionally to turn it = in without penalty; on Friday it will be considered late and, thus, the above policy is in effect. Unexcused absences are treated as the late.

The same policy applies to making up quizzes and exams missed durin= g an excused absence. Make-ups wil= l not be given during regular class time unless part of the class is devoted to silent work. Making up quizze= s and

exams should be done on your time-study halls, before and after sch= ool. You must make an appointment and m= ark it in you agenda as a commitment.

If= I say something in class you are responsible for the information. I will not say “take notes now”. However, I will at times say this is “important”.

Ev= erything I draw it up on the board it is important, and copy it into your notes. Not every PPT slide is important.<= o:p>

Yo= u must learn to judge what is important and what is not. Some hints for judging importance = are to record information that is repeated, that is given verbal emphasis, that you are questioned about, and that it is bell work. All main points should be recorded= with enough detail for identification and clarification. Develop a technique in which notes visually indicate relative importance.&nbs= p; Take notes on my expansion of homework. If I am spending a great deal of t= ime talking about the answer, I probably want you to have an in-depth understan= ding of the topic. Review notes da= ily for clarity. Add to them if t= hey are confusing or incomplete. = Always incorporate your homework into your notes.

QUESTION/ANSWER POLICY

We will use the PASS = system in this classroom.

QUIZZES AND TESTS

Quizzes and exams will be compl= eted in pencil. This is to your advantage so

you can erase. You will use a #2 medium pencil.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

You must have one five subject spiral notebooks 10.5” x 8R= 21; for each quarter as a minimum. Global classes will also obtain a 3” binder in which to keep a= ll their daily notes, Homework, Section Quizzes, and Chapter Tests. This binder is gradable and must r= emain neat and in order. I will give everyone the opportunity to acquire them.&= nbsp; If there is some reason why you cannot get the notebooks, speak to me immediately. You must have th= em to be successful. I will be grad= ing your notebook periodically as the year progresses. You must do all your work in pen (= black and blue) ink only if it is going to be handed in and graded. I will not grade work in pencil.
