Summer School Information 2011

 

Carthage Summer School Information

There are two different deadlines to register for summer school, depending on which course(s) a student needs. 

Costs: $100 for one three-week class, $175.00 for two 3 week classes or a six week class.

Cost to register for a Regents exam only: $25

 

Students must register in the Guidance Office at Harrisville Central School by the dates listed below:

 

1.  Deadline to register for the courses listed below:  Tuesday, June 21st

{These are first session courses which will run July 5 – 26, 2011}

 

English 9                       Economics

English 10                     Participation in Government

Global Studies 9             Health

English 12 (Repeat)       English 12 (Full Credit) 

General Algebra I/Integrated Algebra I

 

2.  Deadline to register for the courses listed below:  Wednesday, June 29th

{These are second session courses which will run July 27 – August 16th.}

 

English 11                                             Geometry

Global History 10                                   General Algebra II/Integrated Algebra

U.S. History & Government                   Earth Science

Economics                                            Living Environment

Participation in Government                   Chemistry

English 12 (Repeat)                               English 12 (Full Credit)

Algebra II/Trigonometry

 

Note:  August Regents Exams are used as final exams for appropriate second session classes.

 

3.  Deadline to register for re-taking a Regents Exam in August: Wednesday, June 29th

 

All students interested in summer school (grades 6-12) should contact the guidance office to complete required paperwork.

 

Gouverneur Central School: Regional Summer School

July 6 – August 16, 2011

 

Students interested in attending summer school at Gouverneur MUST register with Mrs. Tyler by

Tuesday, June 29th.

 

Courses offered: ($85.00 per course)

 

Math 7/8                      Integrated Algebra        Geometry

Reading 7/8                  English 9                       English 10

English 11                     English 12                     Global Studies 9

Global Studies 10         Part. in Gov’t                Economics

 

Students interested in re-taking an August Regents exam must also register by June 29th.  Cost is $25 per exam.

 

SUMMER SCHOOL - Any student who fails a required course should seriously consider attending summer school this summer.  Because of graduation requirements, it is extremely difficult to avoid scheduling conflicts, an overload of classes or an additional year of high school if you do not go to summer school for a failed course.  The policy is as follows:

 

A student must have passed two quarters of work in Harrisville and the summer session OR attain an average grade that is passing when two thirds of the Harrisville's final grade is averaged with one third of the summer school grade.
